A uneasy Russell Coutts and Ernesto Bertarelli keep an eye on the speedy Oracle.
Pre-start manoeuvres were cautious with the competitors staying well away from each other, but Alinghi took the start line by only 1 second.
A conservative prestart saw both boats keep away from each other until they crossed the start line a mere second apart.
Alinghi drove ahead to take an 8-second lead at the first windward mark.
Alinghi covered all the way to the top mark.
Oracle overtook Alinghi on the 2nd downwind leg, and held onto the lead right to the finish line.
Nothing like close competition to keep the crew on their toes.
Conditions were 12-15 kts on the course as Alinghi increased her lead slightly.
